The CompanyOur client is based in Los Angeles and works on breakthrough Intelligent Layering technology that unlocks high-volume metal 3D printing by drastically reducing final part cost. Despite the low cost, our parts meet the high industry benchmark MPIF Standard 35 while still achieving tight tolerances and an industry-leading surface finish. Intelligent Layering opens metal 3D printing to most industries that can't afford today's expensive options. Leveraging its unique technology as a parts supplier er, the company sells high-volume, high-value metal parts to manufacturers variously applications across a wide range of industries.The Mechanical Engineer will work directly with sales to qualify customer part opportunities for technical and business-case viability and directly with production to guide the development of each part into high-volume production. Specifically, the Mechanical Engineer will:--- Become an expert in identifying good-fit customer parts for our metal 3D printing process from a technical perspective.--- Lead customer design review calls and acts as approving authority for all incoming business.--- Explain to customers when parts do not fit the technology and educate them on our process capabilities to win future business.--- Liaise between internal engineers and customer engineers/buyers/quality to ensure the technical success of every production program.Requirements of the Mechanical Engineer:An undergraduate engineering degree is required, and a master's degree is a plus. The Mechanical Engineer should have at least 2 years of experience, including:--- Improvement-minded, outside-the-box thinker- demonstrated ability to bring unique solutions to challenging problems.--- Proven experience in production additive manufacturing. Experience in regulated industries (medical, aerospace, defense) is a plus.--- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment with an understanding of quality systems, statistical process control, LEAN/Six Sigma, and FAI/PPAP.--- Strong grasp of GD&T and the ability to read, analyze, and author engineering drawings.--- Hands-on experience with 3D modeling: parametric design and analysis of solid models (e.g., in Solidworks), as well as manipulation of.STL mesh files.Preferred Requirements:--- Ability to communicate technical knowledge clearly and understandably, both to write and to speak. Experience in a customer-facing role is a plus.--- Ability to lead complex projects with interdisciplinary stakeholders and a track record of successful execution meeting tightly defined requirements.
