Job Description About the Company SCHARP/BAFMA - Southern
California Health & Rehabilitation Program is a mission-driven
healthcare organization dedicated to delivering accessible
high-quality behavioral care to underserved communities in Southern
California. About the Role Reporting to the CEO, the Medical
Director is the senior clinical leader, responsible for ensuring
the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered behavioral medical
care in alignment with the organization’s mission and values. The
Medical Director provides oversight of community clinical
operations, promotes continuous quality improvement, and serves as
a key advisor to the executive team on medical and strategic
matters. The Medical Director also ensures compliance with
regulatory requirements and fosters a culture of collaboration,
accountability, and service. This is a full-time role with a 60%
administrative and 40% clinical workload. Responsibilities Provide
direct psychiatric care at least one day per week. Report to the
CEO to ensure standards. Lead and manage the clinical leadership
team and all clinical staff: mentoring, coaching, and supervision;
ensuring staff engagement to meet organizational and program
clinical goals and objectives. Implement operational procedures and
develop medical policies in collaboration with the executive team.
Manage budgets, productivity metrics, and staff performance.
Provide education and training to enhance client care and provider
communication. Provide clinical oversight in delivering behavioral
health services across multiple service areas. This includes the
development of policies and procedures, and protocols applicable to
all behavioral health service staff and programs. Identify service
and community partnership opportunities and plan, develop,
implement, and evaluate a comprehensive system of behavioral health
services. Provide guidance and recommendations regarding quality
improvement, standards of care/practice guidelines, compliance, and
legal issues to the executive team. Ensure staff meet ethical
standards including all appropriate codes and Standards of Conduct
and Professional Ethics. Other duties as required. Qualifications 5
or more years of experience in behavioral health management,
including clinical and administrative roles; with 3 years of
progressively responsible experience in clinical practice, one of
which must have included management experience planning, directing,
and coordinating the activities of community psychiatry and
systems. Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a proven
track record of program development and implementation. Knowledge
with CARF accreditation requirements. An understanding of how to
ensure compliance with organizational and professional standards
and applicable laws and regulations. Experience and knowledge of
multi-ethnic, diverse, and underserved communities. Required Skills
Doctor of Medicine (MD) Board Certified in Psychiatry Preferred
Skills Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
(preferred) Board Certified in Addictions (preferred) Board
Certified in Forensics (preferred) Pay range and compensation
