We have monthly team meetings during which we feed you and educate you on various aspects of the veterinary field. Please apply and join us at Harbor Animal Hospital.KENNEL ATTENDANT JOB DESCRIPTIONVeterinary Hospital Kennel Attendants / Hospital Maintenance Technicians have the primary responsibility for greeting clients admitting pets to the boarding facility; and feeding, handling and cleaning up after boarding animals. They will have secondary responsibilities to assist veterinary technicians with the care of hospitalized animals.Patient-Admittance Tasks - Greet clients quickly and cheerfully - Ensure that all boarding admission paperwork has been completed - Weigh pets and record weights at the time they are admitted - Walk or carry pets to the appropriate wards or kennels. Apply identification bands. Settle pets comfortably in their assigned cages and runs. Provide fresh water, if permitted, and clean bedding. Mark cages and runs with pet's cage cards. Properly label and place or store personal items IeR behind by owners - Use warning stickers and notations on cage cards and records as appropriate - Aid veterinarians and technicians with the evaluation of incoming animals - Recognize the symptoms of contagious diseases. Follow isolation procedures for contagious or potentially contagious animals. Using designated products and dilutions for disinfectants, properly disinfect your shoes, hands and clothing before leaving isolation areasExamination and Restraint Tasks - Restrain pets in a manner that allows necessary work to be performed, minimizes stress to pets and ensures the safety of pets and peoplePet-Care and Grooming Tasks - Wash, dry and store patients' bedding and practices' towels. - Monitor boarders for illness outbreaks and trends. - Walk dogs on a double leash or on a leash within a fenced exercise area. - Provide individual play time for boarders. Ensure pets' safety and well-being at all times - Prepare meals according to client's or doctors' instructions and feed animals. - Withhold food and water for appropriate time periods from pets scheduled for or recovering from surgical procedures and anesthesia as directed - Rinse and refill water pails and dishes. Wash and disinfect as needed during and after the completion of pet's stays. - Provide medical grooming, including medicated baths, dips, nail trims and mat removal - Medicate and treat boarders.Facility-Maintenance Tasks - Maintain kennel and grounds. Periodically treat the grounds to reduce the number of parasites present - Ensure safe walkways during inclement weather. - Gather garbage and place it in designated receptacles - Ensure the proper functioning of all equipment. Periodically clean and maintain cleaning. Repair of replace broken lights and fixtures. Maintain and repair cages and runs to ensure their secure closure and safety - Clean food bins. Restock food bins. - Know all the cleaning products used including their safe handling and proper use. - Maintain a "lost and found" bin for items left behind by pet's owners. - Able to stay productive even on a slow day - Shows the "We Care" attitude to all patients and clients - Cooperate well with the doctor, does not debate or undermine doctor's decisions - Present self and dresses in a professional manner, always clean, well groomed and keeps scrubs/nametag in good repairMinimum Qualifications/Requirements: - High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education, and/or experience. - Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires a lot of lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion. - Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors. - Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work weekends and holidays.To find out more about our fabulous team please logon to our website at harboranimalhospital.com.Job Types: Full-time, Part-timeBenefits:
