System Engineering Manager

In this role, you have the opportunity to

be a strong technical leader, providing direction and establishing short and long-term goals to the systems engineering staff. This role is a technical manager role, where one leads a world class systems team, as well as still making individual technical contributions on the team.

You are responsible for

* Lead system engineering team to develop next generation mission computer systems
* Lead systems engineering team in defining systems architectures and systems requirements, developing test plans and procedures, and conducting verification and validation testing
* Drive systems development process including requirements management, system design, integration, verification and validation activities
* Drive Model Based System Engineering processes
* Drive risk management efforts and ensure critical risks have been addressed and understood by engineering and program management teams
* Has overall control of systems engineering staffing, and works with engineering management on budgeting, managing expense priorities
* Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
* Act as technical liaison with manufacturing/operations and program management
* Work with program management to develop budgets and schedules and ensure systems engineering team executes per program plan
* Drive successful product migration to manufacturing

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

* Experience with avionics applications
* Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams in product development and failure investigations
* Mentor junior team member
* Expert in electronic systems/subsystems that consist of software, firmware and hardware with the end goal of developing the detailed design and test methods for these systems
* Expert in analyzing and fixing complex software and firmware issues from a system-level viewpoint
* Knowledge in the use of test equipment such as vector network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, and high-speed oscilloscopes
* Experience with high speed memories and interfaces desired
* Experience with Green Hills Integrity-178 RTOS desired
* Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP and FTP desired
* Experience with requirements management tools, such as Jama
* Experience with Issue Tracking tools, such as JIRA
* Experience with collaboration tools, such as Confluence
* Experience with Model Based System Engineering tools, such Cameo is desired

Purpose: This position manages a team which would typically consist of both experienced professionals and junior engineers in the Systems Engineering sub-family.

Responsibility Statement: Establish high-level, significant relationships with customers, partners, key decision-makers, and other industry leaders Establish operating budgets; monitor the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of installation activities to optimise resources, prioritise spending, and ensure that standards are met Lead, direct, and control all systems engineering activities to meet the organisation's short and long-term business objectives Plan, prioritize, and manage multiple engineering projects; prioritize tasks and assign team members to ensure that the team?s overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met Preparation of documentation with the end goal of system qualification and aircraft certification (including system specifications, interface control documents, system description documents, test specifications and reports) Prepare documentation containing information such as confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, product development or introduction schedules, product costs, or information about product performance weaknesses. Provide leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through employee meetings, effective communications, and in developing an efficient team that is responsive to balance department requirements and change.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Master's preferred)

Work Experience: 10+ Years with 3+ years in management or technical leadership role
