To direct and be responsible for the operations of assigned
Regional Branches and Sales Offices. Direct and manage the Branch's
Management personnel within a specified geographic region in
accordance with corporate goals, policies and guidelines
Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans new tactics & operations to enhance revenue in the Region
assigned. Also recommends to Corporate Headquarters operational
changes. Assists in the implementation in a specific region of new
corporate operating procedures or major personnel policies.
- May negotiate rates with airlines and truckers to maximize
profitability of region assigned, based on a knowledge of the
region's freight movement.
- Customer service. Regularly visits potential major new clients
and helps maintain current customer base. Helps resolve major
customer requests or problems. Follows up as necessary. Works
closely with corporate, regional and local sales staff as
appropriate in conducting and promoting sales. Attends sales
conventions as necessary or authorizes others to do so.
- Directs and approves the placement, promotion, discipline,
firing, training, etc. of Branch Managers and Assistant Branch
Managers. Conducts personnel evaluations of Branch Managers and
approves goals set. Recommends to Headquarters all staffing and
salaries, after first conferring with the Branch Managers.
Investigates and resolves problems reported by staff about Branch
management. Helps resolve local staff problems as well as staffing.
Is responsible for knowing Branch staff and Branch operations.
- This position involves considerable domestic and possibly
international travel, including travel for sales and travel to
- Monitors revenues and expenses of Branch and service centers
and directs new, possibly remedial actions to improve the financial
performance and operations of service centers. Responsible for the
operating budget of a region, including budgets for Branches within
a specific region. Confers with Branch managers as necessary in
setting and improving budgets.
- Confers and consults with senior management and other Regional
Vice Presidents in furthering the goals and needs of the
- Abides by ISO 9001quality systems and procedures, and Yusen's
Corporate Compliance Policy.
- Arranges meetings with regional Branches and Managers to
promote coordination, cooperation and joint success of offices.
Participates in Regional Vice President meetings, as well as
- Submits various reports as specified by the EVP (Sales,
staffing, budget, etc.) Responsible for managing the Branch
Managers in the assigned region. Carries out supervisory
responsibilities in accordance with the YLA policies and applicable
laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training
employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising
performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problem Qualifications Education and
- College Degree in a related field.
- 5 + years of experience as a Branch Manager as well as
considerable Sales Expertise.
- Excellent knowledge of Yusen's services, operations, policies,
procedures as well as government regulations.
- Demonstrate capacity to keep abreast of new business trends and
how they would apply to real world projects.
- Demonstrate ability in problem solving and negotiation with
special emphasis on corporate goals, operational management.
- Ability to work well within a large organization (Enterprise
stakeholders, Process Owners, Executive Teams and Client
Executives, Buying Influences, and Coaches) The above statements
