OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

  • This individual will oversee the IT and digital portfolio within the Optum IPA Strategy and Support team. This individual will be working with a wide range of corporate and regional teams to support the design, development, deployment and maintenance of internal- and external-facing digital platforms. This individual will join a growing team of high impact, high motivation individuals, and is expected to manage multiple work streams and proactively and effectively communicate across internal and external stakeholders.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Guide the overall digital transformation strategy and roadmap for Optums affiliated physician network, in partnership with Optums IT and Digital Transformation teams.
    • Oversee deployment of new / expanded technologies to internal teammates and our affiliate physician partners, inclusive of roll-out timing, training, communications development, etc.
    • Assist with the development / expansion of digital solutions to improve internal and external operational efficiency and improve service level
    • Identify collaboration champions across various teams/departments and be able to articulate needs to them, and co-design solutions to achieve desired project end-goals.
    • Interface with operations leadership teams to ensure technology deployment is in alignment with local needs/goals to ensure continual utilization tools/platforms
    • Clearly synthesize insights and recommendations to team, both verbally and through presentation materials (i.e., Visio, PowerPoint).
    • Determine opportunities for process automation and/or innovative solutions to promote process efficiency.
    • Escalate critical issues to business sponsor, committee(s), or work group(s) if necessary for appropriate and timely resolution as needed.
    • Provide input on program and project resource needs.
    • Utilize standardized processes, tools, methodologies and presentation templates including project timetables, progress/milestone reports, financial reports, resource and issues tracking.EDUCATION:
      • Bachelors degree from a four-year college required.
      • Masters degree in health informatics, healthcare administration, business administration, public health or related field preferredEXPERIENCE:
        • Minimum 5 years work experience, of which a minimum of 2 years were in a manager-level role
        • Experience with organizational implementation of new initiatives, workflows, processes, or tools, with a track record of driving business and financial performance
        • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high performing teams
        • Experience in value-based healthcare operations with a health plan, medical group or IPA
        • Robust analytical skills with an emphasis on data-supported decision making
        • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be personable yet persistent
        • Ability and willingness to stretch up and down in responsibilitiesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
          • Ability to make decisions and lead through ambiguity
          • Dynamic communicatorcomfortable speaking and/or presenting in front of large, important stakeholders
          • Ability to modulate leadership style and presence based on audience
          • Attention to detail (i.e. zero defect work)
          • Creative and strategic thinker
          • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
          • Exceptional project management with the ability to organize, direct and lead special projects
          • Strong ability to collaborate with senior leadership and other department directors/managers to define business strategies, analyze operational inefficiencies, implement creative solutions, and measure outcomes/success.
          • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter.
          • Highly developed conceptual skills; able to synthesize information quickly; understands various industries and functions; and able to present material in an organized and clear manner.
          • Salesforce CRM development and reporting skills
          • Strong PC-based business software skills (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Visio) and other business tools.
