Providence is calling a Manager Facilities (Full-Time/Day shift) at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance in Torrance, CA. We are seeking a Manager Facilities who will report to the Regional Director, Environment of Care - So CAl, provide management oversight for all phases of hospital construction projects, including coordinating workers, materials, and equipment. Ensures all specifications are being followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Assists the Regional Director with the day-to-day operational and personnel activities of the Engineering, Biomed Engineering, and Security departments. Schedules and inspects the work of all Engineering staff. Assists the Regional Director in operational and budgetary planning for the maintenance of the facility and proposed projects. Selects, trains and evaluates staff; assures that Hospital and Department policies are observed. Resolves difficult or complex issues encountered by the staff. Maintains hospital facility ensuring maximum efficiency. In this position you will: * SERVICE: * Promotes patient, physician, customer and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect. * Supports and participates in activities that foster customer service. * Communicates and follows the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate. * PEOPLE: * Maintains required applicable licensure, certification and education. * Attends and successfully completes general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements. * Participates actively in department staff meetings. * Demonstrates effective verbal and written communications. * Communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations Adult, Geriatric. * Manages and leads staff members in performance and progress of work in assigned engineering functions and/or projects. Develops work assignments, inspects work in progress and assures successful completion of work. Ensures department operates in compliance with established policies and procedures of the hospital, regulations of applicable regulatory agencies and standards of JCAHO. * Responsible for appropriate conduct management of staff members, Perform conflict-resolution, presents staff commendations, conducts problem solving and implements progressive disciplinary actions appropriate to Hospital policies and procedures. * Responsible for the recruitment and retention of qualified staff members. Responsible to appropriately orient, develop and train staff members. * Conducts regularly schedules staff meetings to communicate issues regarding compliance with established procedures and overall work unit effectiveness. Reviews and sets productivity and work measurement standards for engineering personnel, and as needed, performs skilled work activities related to carpentry, painting, demolition, construction, and general maintenance. * Provides leadership in problem identification and resolution and coordinates resolution between departments as needed. Promotes and establishes an atmosphere of Total Quality Improvement throughout the department with motivation, coaching and staff development and through evaluation, development and/or revision of department policies and procedures. * Monitors utility expenses for the hospital. Takes the necessary steps for implementing or improving cost control measures. Carries out the department budget, assure compliance and provides justification for variances as requested. * Serves as liaison with utility and governmental officials to ensure conformance with international building codes and all fire and safety standards and regulations. * Tracks and controls project schedules and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated. Reviews reports, checks on any reported difficulties, and takes the necessary steps to correct any safety violations or other reported deficiencies. Meets with appropriate personnel on progress and any necessary modifications of plans that may seem indicated. * Develops cost effective plans and schedules for completion of hospital projects following a logical pattern for utilization of resources. Selects and coordinates the work of all subcontractors during the various phases of the project. * Oversees the performance of all trades and contractors to ensure all specifications and regulations are being followed. Oversees the installation and repair of utilities and equipment ensuring conformance with safety and fire regulations. Coordinates in-house and outside contractor construction activities ensuring the compliance of International Building codes, OSHPD, and ADA. * Establishes preventive maintenance and repair logs in accordance with operational parameters and manufacturers recommendations. Required qualifications: * 3 years Progressive management/supervision experience in construction, and maintenance of equipment, utilities, and buildings. * Ability to plan and execute a full range of administrative tasks in operating a large and complex department. * Ability to analyze complex problems and situations and realize potential effects of proposed actions. * Proficient in knowledge of federal, state and local building codes, standards and specifications. * Proficient in facilities management techniques for healthcare facility. Preferred qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent field. * Los Angeles County Boiler Operator License. About the hospital you will serve.
