If your goals and values align with Honda's, we want you to join our team to Bring the Future!Job PurposeThe Dealer Applications Unit is responsible to manage and support dealers and field associates via Interactive Network (iN) and FieldLink portals. The Interactive Network (iN) is American Honda's Web-based Dealer/Distributor Communication System. It is a portal connecting AHM Mainframe/Midrange/Cloud backend application systems, iN front-end applications, and external Websites to dealers over the Internet. The iN portal is deployed to Automobile, Acura, Motorcycle, Power Equipment, Marine, Engine, Export Distributor (LAC), Honda Canada, and Honda de Mexico.
The Sr. Applications Engineer is responsible for identification and selection of appropriate services based on requirements and constraints, he/she has deep subject matter expertise, and can evaluate new technologies that fit in current application architecture. The positions need to maintain in-depth knowledge of company's strategic business plans and provide solutions using cutting-edge technologies. Also has in-depth knowledge of company's existing IT architecture/application solutions and technology portfolio.
Here are few key functions:

• Analyzing, designing, and developing high-quality software solutions and adhering to IT standards and policies.
• Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of application development efforts and recommend. technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and application flexibility.
• Automating tasks through appropriate tools and scripting.
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Reviewing and verifying code quality and provide recommendations.
• Ensuring software stays up to date with the latest technologies.
• Evaluating and performing proof-of-concept (POC) or proof-of-technology (POT) for software solutions from third-party vendors.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and ability to adapt to different project requirements.
• Additionally, the position will require collaboration with DevOps, DBA, and Enterprise/Solution Architects.Key Accountabilities
  • Design, develop, and deliver complex software solutions that meet user requirements and business objectives. Conduct research and development to stay current with industry trends and advancements including emerging cloud technologies.
  • Design and implement scalable and maintainable software architectures for high-traffic applications.
  • Champion the adoption of new technologies and frameworks.
  • Mentor junior developers on best practices in coding and design principles.
  • Optimize existing codebases to improve performance and reduce complexity.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues independently and collaboratively.WorkstyleHybrid: At least 3 days per workweek at the American Honda, Torrance, CA office.#LI-Hybrid

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or computer engineering, system analysis, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.Minimum qualifying skills:
      • Solid understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and industry best practices.
      • 8+ years of relevant experience in leading the analysis, design, development, testing and implementing various Web Portal applications to support business requirements.
      • 8+ years of relevant experience in software development, with a focus on Microsoft .NET, SQL, Java, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, XML.
      • 10+ years of experience in implementing Object Oriented Programming (OOPS), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Microservices Architecture based applications (REST API), client-server applications, N-tier applications, Mobile/Hybrid applications.
      • Experience with software development frameworks and tools such as MVC, SPA.
      • Proven experience in database design and programming (SQL / NoSQL).
      • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
      • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.Desirables:
        • Experience with any cloud computing platforms (e.g. - AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
        • Knowledge of DevOps practices to automate deployments and ensure continuous integration/delivery CI/CD pipelines.
