Job Description:

Moog is looking for a Component Engineer to provide technical guidance in the Part, Material and Process (PMP) selection of electronic components used in our commercial and military flight control systems. In this role, you will serve as Parts Control Board (PCB) chairperson. You will also identify component obsolescence/diminishing source issues and recommend solutions. This position is based at our aerospace facility in Torrance, CA and offers a hybrid work option.

As a Electrical Component Engineer, you will...

  • Promote the standardization of components. Advise Design Engineering and Purchasing of contractual component selection criteria, new technology/alternate/substitute parts, COTs acceptability, availability, and prohibited parts. Review for compliance with contractual PMP requirements. Maintain Part Report Card for commercial parts.
  • Review, interpret and tailor military, commercial and space customer PMP requirements.
  • Prepare cost effective component SCDs/SIDs.
  • Prepare associated data item submittals in support of customer PMP requirements including:
    • Parts Control Program Plan
    • Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPAR's)
    • Contractor-Selected PMP Lists
    • Radiation Vulnerability Assessment Reports (RVARs)
      • Serve as the Parts Control Chairperson of the PCB (Parts Control Board), when contractually required. Interface with the customer PMPCB, as required. Advise Program Management/ Purchasing/Contracts of problems or technical issues related to PMP Program progress/required actions.
      • Serve as the primary advocate of Moog's Component Obsolescence Management Program. Conduct a periodic BOM review to identify obsolescence and diminishing source issue. Report results to Design and Purchasing. Suggest alternate/substitute parts/sources.

      • Provide technical assistance to QE/SQE in support of vendor DPA/Up-screening Control Procedures, Source Inspections, vendor surveys/audits, supplier problems and Inspection Planning. Minimum Qualifications...
        • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics
        • 2 or more years of Electrical or Electronics Engineering experience
        • Electronic Components Engineering experience

          • 5+ years of experience as a Components Engineer
          • Experience with a broad range of electronic components (Discrete electronic components, microprocessors, memory, FPGA, and hybrid circuits, etc.)
          • Familiarity with Military parts specifications
          • Experience with components drawings such as PCD, SCD and SID preparation
          • Experience with custom component quality, up-screening and design requirements
          • Experience designing for manufacturability and parts procurement lead time reduction.
          • Experience with the management of a Parts Control Plan
          • Experience with components obsolescence monitoring and management
          • Experience supporting design engineering in parts selection and resolving parts issues by obtaining information from component manufacturers and suppliers

            California Residents: Pay range for this opportunity is $90,000 - $115,000, annually
