Engineering RF Technician
We are looking for an Engineering RF Technician to join our global engineering and manufacturing tech leader that does cool stuff that matters. - In this role, you will have the opportunity to build, test, and debug a wide variety of customized antenna products on rapid development timescales. You will also have a chance to see our latest products under design, suggest design improvements for greater manufacturability, and recommend manufacturing process improvements for greater production throughput.

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in the oceanside community -of Torrance, CA. One of the best places to live in California with ocean beaches, plenty of parks and endless sunny days. -
As -Engineering RF Technician, you will:

  • Solder, assemble, and modify radio frequency (RF) hardware including antennas and printed circuit board assemblies
  • Assist in the build, trial and documentation of new assembly and test fixture designs
  • Assist with electrical and environmental test planning, execution, and documentation
  • Conduct radiation pattern testing and generate test reports
  • Document acceptance test procedures
  • Capture pictures and process steps for use in assembly workbooks and routers
  • Teach Production team members new acceptance test methods
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware

    Must-Have: -

    • Excellent practical skills and capability of precisely soldering high frequency connections
    • Experience in testing analog and RF circuits using network analysers, spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment
    • Capability of understanding the fundamentals of RF and electronics theory
    • Ability to read and understand electrical circuits and schematics
    • High School diploma and some post-secondary technical education
    • 5+ years' experience work with soldering and tools
    • Ability to periodically climb stairs and ladders for rooftop testing
    • Ability to carry test equipment weighing up to 25 pounds for distances of up to 25 feet
    • Applicants for select positions that require access to information controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR") or the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR") must be US Persons per ITAR -120.15 and EAR -772.1 (i.e., a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or admitted to the U.S. as an asylee or refugee), or be otherwise eligible to obtain required authorization from the U.S. Government to access controlled information

      Key Success Factors:

      • Self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision and with strong attention to detail
      • Goal oriented, strong work ethic and a team player with good interpersonal/communication skills
      • Ability to adapt to organizational needs and willingness to take on new roles as required


        • Familiarity with ISO9001:2008 and other quality and workmanship standards
        • Experience measuring antenna radiation patterns and scattering parameters
        • Technical / mechanical knowledge, skills and experience in assembling, processing and repairing a wide range of equipment or products
        • Familiarity with PCB layout tools (Altium Designer or similar)
        • Experience with RF simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, or similar)
        • Experience working in the aerospace or defense industries
        • Knowledge of -defense/aerospace environmental requirements and standards such as MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 -
