Job Description:

This is an administrative position and supervisory role. The Job Coach Supervisor is responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, leading coach training and development, and evaluating coaching performance. The Job Coach Supervisor provides supervision of the coaches facilitating direct care for clients with developmental and physical disabilities. They are responsible for ensuring clients are continually being supported by effective direct support professionals towards the goal of independence in the workforce. The Job Coach Supervisor is committed to providing stability in the client coaching environment. This position supports and fosters client choice. This position reports to the Supported Employment Program Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:


Must be at least 18 years of age


Must be eligible to work legally in the United States


Must be fully vaccinated from Covid-19


Must be able to maintain regular attendance and consistently arrive on time


Must be able to multitask and work independently with clients


Must be able to meet schedules and deadlines


Must be an organized, flexible, detail-oriented, and dependable individual


Must have strong interpersonal communication skills


Must be people-oriented with strong customer service and problem solving skills


Must be comfortable working with and directly caring for people with developmental disabilities whether in a controlled environment or in the community



Education, Experience, and Knowledge:


Must have a high school diploma from an accredited high school; BA/BS in management or a relevant industry field (such as psychology, sociology, or behavioral studies) preferred


Two years experience working with people with disabilities required, prior job coaching experience a plus


Three years experience in a management or supervisory role required, directly supervising a team of at least ten


Human Resources experience a plus


Must have strong computer skills and be comfortable using a computer regularly, including the use of Apple Macs, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and client record databases.


Must have strong typing skills


Must be fluent in English and have strong English writing and grammar skills


Bilingual in Spanish or ASL a plus



Licenses and Other Requirements:


Must have the ability to pass tuberculosis skin test


Submit to a fingerprint clearance through LiveScan before starting employment


Must be CPR and First Aid certified or be willing to complete CPR and First Aid certification


Must be CPI certified or willing to complete prevention-first training at hire


Must have reliable transportation. If taking public transportation, must have the ability to travel to job sites and hiring locations in the South Bay and greater Long Beach areas. If using a private vehicle, valid California Driver's License or valid driver's license from another state at the time of interview and throughout employment with a clean three year driving record. Willingness to submit to DMV background check and provide evidence of current auto registration and liability insurance.



Physical Demands and Working Conditions:


Sitting or standing for extended periods of time


Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 70 pounds, including pushing a wheelchair



Professional Development:
The Job Coach Supervisor must attend compensated state mandated ongoing professional development and continuing education classes for a minimum of eight hours annually. This may require attending seminars at the regional center, applicable courses at other sites, or online.

Essential Role Responsibilities:


Maintaining proper staffing levels, including monitoring job coach availability, turnover, and participating in candidate sourcing, interviews, and candidate selection


Leading job coach training, including new hire orientations, on-the-job shadowing, ongoing monthly team meetings on coach skill development and safety techniques, and coordinating specialized outside training opportunities.


Meeting newly hired coaches at their first shift to facilitate client/coach introductions, provide additional in-service training, demonstrate coaching techniques, and provide feedback; scheduling a time with the new hire at two weeks and one month to check in via phone


Teaching job tasks to job coaches and monitoring the quality of their work


Evaluating job coaching performance, including quarterly quality assessments and performance reviews, including at the end of probationary periods


Evaluating, retraining, and/or coordinating with human resources to develop performance improvement plans for job coaches having difficulties in meeting job description standards


Scheduling monthly meetings with each coach in person or via phone call to discuss performance, review or set goals, and determine skill development strategies


Act as the employer liaison for the point of contact at active client worksites to receive client and coach feedback.


Team Function Responsibilities


Maintaining positive and cooperative working relationships with clients and their families


Coordinating with case managers and job developers to identify natural supports and fading techniques, developing and maintaining client profiles, and other new intern or placement handoff processes


Coordinating with coach scheduling team to monitor coach professionalism, identify coaching availability gaps that inform hiring determinations, and identify dedicated coaching relationships


Coordinating with the program manager and job developers to forecast future need


Discussing and reviewing client progress, work environments, and worksite culture with job coaches


Maintaining positive and cooperative working relationships with clients, guardians, coworkers, and ICAN staff and providing positive role modeling
