Children’s Museum is searching for an Exhibits and Facilities
Technician to help us achieve our mission of inspiring growth in
all children by engaging families in learning through play. This is
a unique opportunity to help build memorable experiences for the
children and families of our community. This position will also
play an exciting role in creating the inaugural experiences of the
museum. The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager with
demonstrated technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot,
problem-solve, collaborate and think creatively. Key
Responsibilities The Exhibits & Facilities Technician plays a vital
role in supporting the mission of the Children’s Museum by ensuring
that all exhibits, facilities, and building systems are safe,
functional, and engaging for visitors. This position combines
hands-on exhibit maintenance and repair with facilities support,
contributing to a welcoming, well-maintained environment that
fosters learning and play Exhibit Maintenance & Support Perform
daily inspections of exhibits to ensure safety, cleanliness, and
functionality. Lead the troubleshooting and repair of the Museum's
exhibits and spaces, including mechanical, electrical, and
electronic systems. Assist in the fabrication, installation, and
deinstallation of new and traveling exhibits. Collaborate with the
exhibits team to improve durability, accessibility, and visitor
experience. Document repairs, maintenance schedules, and materials
used. Facilities Maintenance & Support Conduct routine inspections
and perform general maintenance of the building, grounds, and
facility systems (components, lighting, plumbing, paint, pest
control etc.). Coordinate with contractors or vendors for
specialized repairs and preventive maintenance. Respond promptly to
exhibits or facilities-related needs reported by staff. Assist with
event setup, teardown, and facility logistics. Safety & Compliance
Ensure all exhibits and facilities meet museum standards Maintain
safety and maintenance report logs Support emergency preparedness,
including maintaining safety equipment and conducting drills as
needed. Follow proper safety protocols when using tools, equipment,
and materials. Maintain clean and organized workspaces Make sure
that all work is done while being safe and not creating a hazard
for any member of staff, guests or self. Team & Visitor Engagement
Work collaboratively with museum staff to support daily operations
and special events Provide excellent customer service when
interacting with visitors, occasionally assisting with
exhibit-related troubleshooting during museum hours. Contribute to
a positive and inclusive workplace that reflects the museum’s
values of play, learning, and community. Use good judgement in
prioritizing tasks Requirements: Qualifications High school diploma
or equivalent required; technical or trade school certificate
preferred. 2 years of experience in exhibit fabrication, facilities
maintenance, or related technical fields (woodworking, electrical,
mechanical, or fabrication skills preferred). Strong
troubleshooting skills with ability to repair a wide variety of
components. Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and shop
equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or in
confined spaces as needed. Computer literacy for recordkeeping and
communication. Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and a
proactive problem-solving approach. Enthusiasm for working in a
child-focused, playful environment. Work Environment Fast-paced,
hands-on environment that requires adaptability. Some evening,
weekend, or holiday hours required for special projects or events.

Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience.

Qualifications Must have fabrication experience in building
exhibits, furniture, props, sculpture or related items Experience
working in design software is desirable Certification in trades
such as electrical, welding, plumbing etc. is desirable Ability to
use expert written and verbal communication effectively with a wide
variety of individuals including parents, caregivers, children,
volunteers, and donors Detail oriented and extremely reliable
Ability to maintain current driver’s license required Ability to
have shifts of strenuous physical labor that may include: lifting
heavy objects, standing for extended periods of time, work
outdoors, and other duties in line with the task requirements To
serve the best interest of museum patrons, kidSTREAM will conduct a
criminal background check on all prospective employees Skills and
Abilities Candidates should have a demonstrable passion for the
mission and work of the Museum and have a strong desire to make a
difference in their community. Successful candidates will have
excellent communication skills and have the ability to spark
collaboration across the team. Candidates should be agile
problem-solvers with the ability to make sound decisions. abilities
and be energized, enthusiastic, and focused on providing
world-class customer service. Experience in Museum Exhibitions,
light construction or similar trade Experience with carpentry,
mechanical, electrical, or plumbing work is highly desired.
Candidates should have a valid unrestricted driver’s license with
clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check.
This position requires extensive walking, standing, heavy lifting,
and use of power tools. Regular weekend hours and occasional
