POSITION: Front Office Medical Receptionist (Bilingual - Spanish Preferred)RESPONSIBLE TO: Office SupervisorRate of Pay: $18.00/HourJOB SUMMARY: The Full-Time Front Office Medical Receptionist is responsible for patient intake and care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, greeting and registering patients, verification of insurance eligibility and benefits, payment collection and posting, scheduling appointments and answering patient questions in a professional and respectful manner. Patient empathy and superior customer service skills are a fundamental requirement for this position.   • High School degree or GED required
  • Must have minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare or hospitality industry.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office -Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact with patients, families, staff and others.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Must have high level of discretion and judgment.
  • Adheres to HIPAA, privacy, confidentiality, and safety guidelines per office polices and protocol.
  • Experience with an EMR (NextGEN preferred)
  • Working knowledge of practice management and word processing software
  • Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor
  • Good communication skills
  • Neat, professional appearance
  • Excellent customer service skills

    • Greets patients in a courteous manner, maintain the registration process and obtain accurate patient data including demographic, billing and insurance information.
    • Answers telephone calls in a professional manner, assists callers and/or routes the calls appropriately.
    • Explains financial requirements to the patient or responsible parties collect payments accordingly.
    • Facilitates patient flow by notifying the clinical staff of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patient and clinical staff.
    • Ensures workspace, reception and patient waiting areas are neat and organized at all times.
    • Attends company and departmental staff meetings.
    • Meets all Productivity Standards/GoalsResponsibilities listed may be subject to change at any time and individuals may be asked to perform duties outside of their regular responsibilities to support the ongoing operations of Newport Orthopedic Institute.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.Typical Physical Demandscoordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is also required. Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and may need to lift up to 15 pounds.
