About the role
simplehuman is seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Associate Accountant to join our growing Accounting team. -This role can encompass AR and AP duties, GL accounting, and tax compliance. - This is an ideal opportunity for a recent Accounting graduate or junior professional who is interested in learning operational accounting in a consumer products company. -
This role requires adeptness at using technology and accounting ERP software, being pro-active and curious, with a strong desire to investigate and improve process flow. - The ideal candidate will be given expanded scope in the long run. - This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Torrance, CA office. This is NOT a remote position.
Accounts Receivable:

• 
  
• Prepare, verify and code customer remittance
  
• Billing invoices
  
• Initiate collections on past-due accounts by sending bill reminders and contacting customers
  
• Handle customer requests, changes and credits
  
• Resolve invalid or unauthorized deductions or chargebacks by following deductions procedures
  
• Prepare commission reports
  
• Perform month-end AR closing
  
• Generate monthly aging reports for review by management
  
• Prepare ad hoc projects on revenue analysis
  
• Update and maintain pricings in ERP
  
  Accounts Payable:
  
  • 
    
  • Maintain and update vendor database
    
  • Obtain approval for invoices received and enter or integrate into system via Concur
    
  • Prepare payments: Checks, ACH, wires, and online payments
    
  • Identify discrepancies and resolve billing issues
    
  • Prepare ad hoc projects on expense analysis.
    
  • Budgeting
    
    Other Responsibilities:
    
    • 
      
    • Improve monthly close process efficiency and speed
      
    • General ledger accounting
      
    • Prepare bank reconciliations
      
    • Assist in monthly and quarterly sales tax reporting
      
    • Assist in audit and tax reports and support as requested by the company's external accounting firms
      
      About You
      
      • 
        
      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (must-have)
        
      • 1-3 years of accounting experience
        
      • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains a plus
        
      • Sharp and analytical, with a strong sense for numbers, and a whiz with Excel
