Tax Accounting Coordinator

Bring the Future! -About this Position: -The Tax Accounting
Coordinator requires "Total quality mindset" and effective
"corporate social responsibility" as these are two key corporate
goals of AHM. -This job contributes to these goals by better
enabling the Tax Department to accurately report the impact of
income taxes in its financial statements for the benefit of
internal and external stakeholders. -This position also better
enables AHM to meet its legal and regulatory requirements in order
to be a "company that society wants to exist". -
Responsibilities include:
- - -Direct the Customs Brokerage firm's work on Honda's customs
clearance activities to ensure timely and compliant transactions.
-Measure Customs Brokerage firms against established KPI's and
expectations. -Use technical knowledge and understanding of legal
requirements to manage data and admissibility elements (including
Harmonized Tariff codes, valuation, country of origin, etc.) to
ensure a smooth flow of imported merchandise to support
production.
- - -Review and/or update tax provisions -on a quarterly and
annual basis to ensure compliance with IAS 12/ASC 740, IAS 34/APF
28 and FIN 48; research IAS 12/ASC 740 issues for various financial
transactions and communicate recommendations to management and
staff as required. -Manage the AHM Income Tax Accounting
("Provision") process. -Prepare and/or review information to HM for
presentation in their consolidated financial statements to ensure
compliance with IFRS. -Instruct staff on new tax accounting
developments and review changes to tax accounting documentation as
required. -Primary coordinator with the external auditors the
quarterly and annual audits of AHM's separate tax provision and
assist the tax manager with the coordination of the consolidated
tax provision and related tax footnote disclosures to HM
- - -Review and/or update internal controls and maintain SOX
documentation regarding income tax provision processes to ensure
compliance w/ SOX Section 404. -Coordinate SOX audit of tax
provision by internal and external auditors and respond to all
management letter comments relating to the tax provision process,
as required. -Recommend changes to internal controls over income
tax processes as required
- - -Serve as the AHM tax lead on special projects (i.e.
implementing new accounting standards, ERPs, tax software, etc.)
This involves coordination with the tax manager, outside
consultants, external auditors, and other Honda accounting,
financial reporting, and tax associates to determine proper
accounting treatments, policies procedures and processes
- - -Collaborate with the tax compliance team to ensure
consistency between the tax provision and tax return. -This
involves assisting with the preparation of state settlements,
answering inquiries from the income tax compliance group, and
reviewing estimate calculations
Who we are seeking: -Required Work Experience:
- - -7+ years work experience in a CPA firm
- - -6 years minimum in Tax and/or tax department of a medium to
large size multi-state corporation with progressive experience
preparing/reviewing income tax provisions in accordance with IAS 12
and/or ASC 740, including preparing/reviewing tax footnotes for
audited financial statements
- - -Experience must include preparing, reviewing and supervising
staff in the preparation of federal and multi-state corporate
income tax returns
- - -ASC 740 (GAAP) tax provision experience required. IAS 12
(IFRS) tax provision experience a plus
- - -Strong working knowledge of federal and multi-state income
tax laws and regulations
- - -Strong working knowledge of income tax accounting under IAS
12 and ASC 740 including FIN 48, and have accounting skills and
understanding of IFRS and GAAPRequired Education:
- - -Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- - -CPA certificate highly desired
- - -Master's Degree in Tax is highly desiredDesired skills:
- - -Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and use of electronic
tax research
- - -Experience using tax preparation software (OneSource Tax
Provision) and accounting systems (SAP) a plus
- - -Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and project
management skills
- - -Ability to explain tax technical issues to various
audiences
- - -Detail-oriented and ability to multitask -
- - -Strong leadership and staff development skills

high-pressure, time compressed schedules
- - -Ability to work under stress from potential high financial
impact of comparatively small errors and processes deficiencies in
the context of highly compressed quarterly deadlines

adversarial situations
- - -Some travel required but not significant
